Michigan's Upper Peninsula 2022

What an interesting place to make photographs! The “U.P.” has many wonderful surprises for photographers, from spectacular beaches and lakeshores to interesting towns and villages. There are cool buildings, such as the ore dock in Marquette, and waterfalls that seem almost as plentiful as in Iceland. The historic mining town of Marquette is located on the rugged southern shore of Lake Superior, and it has a lot to offer photographers with beautiful waterfalls, lighthouses and interior lakes. There is a lot to experience in this area, including the Ore Docks, Presque Isle Park and Lake Superior beaches. Waterfalls are also nearby in Munising, Pictured Rocks and other areas.

I will help you stretch your creative vision by employing new ways of approaching the subject matter. You will learn about focus stacking, HDR exposures as well as sorting and processing images. We will photograph mostly in the morning and afternoon light, leaving the early afternoons for rest and individual exploration.

Marquette is easily accessed by automobile from Wisconsin or Michigan, and there are daily flights from Detroit.

We will meet in Marquette on May 17 and begin the workshop with an orientation session. For the next 5 days we will make photographs, and we will have time for reviewing the images at various times. The workshop ends with departures on May 23.
